Kate Mckinnon shares real grief after the election on SNL. No debates, no Alec Baldwin as Trump, just Kate playing piano and singing and also paying tribute to the death of Leonard Cohen (at 82) with one of his most beautiful songs. It is truly something moving. Makes me cry. The was the cold open for SNL after the election. The entire show just opened up on her hands playing the piano. SNL continues to surprise.

Still one of the most beautiful videos I know. Lyrics, music, passion, cinematography. This one has it all.
Besides a fierce love for music in general, like many I find music and lyrics can uplift you, sear in to your soul, give you revelations, and take you out of dark places. There’s nothing wrong with other songs. I bounce to Taylor Swift pop melodies and grin at her videos like everyone else. However, there are just some songs that grab me and pull me in to my own soul. There are a few artists that I go to over and over for this because their music has that ability, and if its not one song or album I still know that it will come again. It’s that piercing you wish for because you know you’re not the only one identifying with ideas and feelings that are sometimes ineffable. A singer or band’s ability to draw those ideas and feelings out with words and music is amazing.
The Babys still live in retro rock. Members also have hooks into Bad English and Journey. This song is still great. Take a gander at John Waite’s eye shadow!
Yes, I’m gonna be watching. Unabashed fan. And you thought this blog was only about writing.
